Try Tag Rugby is the UK’s leading Tag Rugby organisation. We are a young, vibrant company which experienced tremendous growth of 78% in participation numbers in 2012, with a peak of 142 teams participating in our competitions throughout summer. The 2013 UK summer is fast approaching us with an anticipated 200 teams participating across 15 locations in London/Reading. The Organisation

Try Tag Rugby run adult Tag Rugby competitions across London and Reading. Try Tag Rugby was formed in August 2009 to service the demand for Tag Rugby being played in the capital. Our aim is provide excellent venues, varied divisions and standards of competition, outstanding competition administration and a high level of customer service whilst developing the sport of Tag Rugby throughout the UK. Try Tag Rugby is an owner operated small business. Above all, Try Tag Rugby is a fun place to work as we enjoy what we do!

The Role of Competition Supervisor x 2 in London

We are looking for two Competition Supervisors based in London for summer 2013 to work on self employment contracts. The roles will predominantly focus on competition administration at the venue and behind the scenes. However, each role will slightly differ, with one role further focusing on office administration and the other role further focussing on business development.

Reporting directly to the CEO & Managing Director, with input from the Competition Manager, this position requires self motivated, innovative people with strong customer focus and a love for Rugby (all codes). You will assist with the management and operations of our leagues and administrative duties. The role will require you to work four evenings per week, facilitating events at our competitions and social venues, with your secondary work being made up with administrative duties, business development and/or project work.

We are looking for one Competition Supervisor to join the team for the week starting 01/04/13 (exact date TBC) and one Competition Supervisor to join the team for the week starting 15/04/13 (exact date TBC), with all Competition Supervisor roles continuing through until Saturday, 17th August when Try Tag Rugby will be hosting the 2013 London Tag Rugby Championships. Depending on Autumn registration numbers, contracts will be extended for a further two months if targets are met and could possibly lead to permanent employment. This role would suit graduates, Rugby enthusiasts and working holiday makers.

Responsibilities of the Competition Supervisor

Key responsibilities of this position include:

Venue League Management
-    Oversee the onsite management of your venues
-    Work with the Try Tag Rugby team to oversee the off site management, administration and operations of your venues
-    Assist with competition administration including but not limited to fixtures, results and website updates
-    Draft up and send professionally written mass email communications to your leagues
-    Collect registration fees and sell Tag Rugby shorts at your venues

Staff Management
-    Responsible for the recruitment and roster of venue staff and referees
-    Responsible for the scheduling of appraisals, reviews, training etc for new venue staff and referees
-    Responsible for the existing training and development of venue staff and referees

Membership
-    Assist with team / player registration enquiries
-    General liaison with players throughout the season, both at the ground, the post match social venue, email and phone
-    Making the effort to know all your players on a personal level and by knowing every players name at your competitions
-    Assist with membership drives and advertising for upcoming seasons

Administration
-    Assist with the day to day running of Try Tag Rugby including but not limited to answering emails and phone calls, updating the website, petty cash management, washing equipment and more.

Refereeing
-    It is essential you are a confident Tag Rugby referee (or willing to be trained up as one). You will be required to assist with refereeing at Try Tag Rugby weekend one day Tag Rugby festivals. You may also be required to referee on the odd occasion if your allocated referee can’t make the venue at late notice.

Coaching
-    You will have a sound knowledge of Rugby (any code) as you will be required on occasions to provide advice and give encouragement to new teams and players so they will be able to pick up the rules and maximise their enjoyment of the sport. You may also be needed to occasionally take the odd coaching session.

Competition Supervisor / Office Administrator
-    The Competition Supervisor / Office Administrator should have experience in office administration. You will be expected to be in the Try Tag Rugby office four to five afternoons a week dealing with administrative duties such as answering phone enquiries, dealing with mail, posting online shop orders, photo copying, scanning, making online purchases, stock orders, office maintenance, taking payments over the phone and chasing outstanding payments.

Competition Supervisor / Business Graduate
-    The Competition Supervisor / Business Graduate position would be ideally suited to a recent university graduate. The ideal candidate would have studied sports management or business to at least an undergraduate level. Whilst the position will initially be on contract, Try Tag Rugby is ideally looking for someone interested in having a long term career with the company. Whilst the majority of the working week will be spent managing leagues, there will be time each week for the graduate to work in business development. The specific areas chosen will be dependent on the skills, experience and background of the graduate. With Try Tag Rugby being a small business, virtually all areas of business administration are a possibility, however we are specifically interested in graduates with experience in Marketing, IT, Public Relations, Project Management, Communications, Sponsorship, Event Planning or Finance.

The Ideal Candidates

The ideal candidates will possess the ability to use their initiative and work autonomously. You will have confidence in managing staff, referees, have excellent oral and written communication skills, a strong attention to detail and have a strong back ground in sports management or business administration. It is also important to have a good sense of humour, be able to have fun on the job and be welcoming/approachable to new players into our community as we are one of London's market leaders in the social sports industry! Strong administration skills are required with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute. A senior first aid certificate is essential. You will need to have an interest in Rugby (any code), good knowledge of the sport of Tag Rugby and also need to be a capable Tag Rugby referee (or have the desire to be trained up to become a confident Tag Rugby referee).

Location

Try Tag Rugby will be running competitions at venues in London and its surroundings. Which venues the successful candidates work at will be determined depending on demand and suitability. Try Tag Rugby will have office premises in zone 1-3 in London (location TBC) in March, 2013.

Hours

You will work a minimum of 35 hours per week, broken down as follows;

Core hours will be 6-10pm Monday to Thursday. Try Tag Rugby encourages flexible working arrangements in which you will be required to work a minimum of 140 hours per four week cycle. This position has the flexibility to take Friday's off on occasions to allow for long weekends and work/life balance. At Try Tag Rugby, we like to reward hard working staff by allowing flexible working arrangements and the opportunity to officially represent Try Tag Rugby as a tour leader on one of our official tours to Royal Ascot, Running of the Bulls, Oktoberfest or the Rugby League World Cup Final!

The successful candidates will be required to work at occasional weekend festivals throughout the summer such as the International Cup tournament and the London Tag Rugby Championships.

You must provide evidence you have legal working rights in the UK. People on working holiday visas are welcome to apply.

Remuneration

Negotiable and dependant on skills and experience. You will be on a weekly rate with bonuses in place if targets are met.
