The International Tag Federation (ITF) was conceptualised in 2009. Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Ireland and South Africa saw a need to form an organisation that would promote and administer the game Internationally.
The goal of the ITF is to assist developing countries in growing the game of Tag / Oztag with the goal of getting their players to enjoy the game and to compete at Internationally sanctioned events.
The ITF was formalised at a conference held in Cape Town, South Africa early in 2017. The ITF has hosted four official Tag World Cup events. The most recent being held in Coffs Harbour, Australia in November 2018. The event was a huge success and saw over 3600 players in 179 teams representing 28 countries taking part.
In February 2019, the ITF announced that the Tag World Cup 2021 will be hosted by Ireland (in 2020 the Tag World Cup was postponed to 2022 due to Covid-19). The event will for the first time see all participants staying at the venue, enjoying the fantastic facilities available on a single campus at the University of Limerick. The players, coaches, managers, referees and supporters will enjoy a Tag Village which will provide everything from refreshments, hairdressers, supermarkets, banking facilities, a gym, swimming pools and evening entertainment for all onsite.
