Represent your nation with pride at the 2023 International Cup!

This highly popular long running Try Tag Rugby event returns in 2023, where you get to experience the thrill of throwing on the national colours, singing the anthem with pride and playing your heart out in our mixed social competition. 

Hosted at King’s House Sports Ground, The International Cup is running alongside the 2023 British & Irish Cup. In between matches International Cup players can check out the high level Test Match Tag Rugby on offer, as the cream of British & Irish talent come together across eight categories with the B&I Cup on the line. 

The International Cup is a classic on the events calendar. Catering for players of all standards as an individual registration event, get yourself signed up, stock up on face paint and get practising your national anthem! The tournament will feature a round robin and finals. At the conclusion of play an after party will be held on site running late into the evening. So that you can look the part, official International Cup players jerseys/singlets and shorts/tights are available to purchase for all nations.

FORMAT
– All games will be played in the mixed 7-a-side format
– Minimum 90 minutes game time through the day
– Teams must have a maximum of 4 male players on the pitch at any time and will be assigned 11 players
– Regular Try Tag Rugby rules apply for all games
– All players must be registered for insurance purposes
– Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for a country / region, you must have been either:

– Born in the country / region
– Have at least one parent/grandparent born in the country / region
– Have lived in the country / region for three consecutive years or more to qualify on residency grounds

Players will only be allowed to participate in one team throughout the day.

If you wish to play with friends from the same nation, please contact us with each player’s names and nation and we will do our best to assign you to the same team. (Refers specifically to nations entering multiple teams).

PRESENTATION & AFTER-PARTY
On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place in the clubhouse where we have booked the bar area for everyone to enjoy some drinks and socialise until late in the evening. 

VENUE
This event will take place at King’s House Sports Ground, Riverside Drive, Chiswick, W4 2SH, a ten minute walk from Barnes Bridge and Chiswick stations.

Full male and female changing facilities are available on site for use before, during and after the tournament. Please note that dogs are not permitted on site unless required for assistance purposes.

ON THE DAY
Players will need to arrive for registration & to meet team-mates no later than 10am with anthems taking place at 10.30am and the first games starting at 11am. Play will be completed around 4pm with the after-match social running until midnight.

JEROME BRECARD CUP
The England v Australia game at the International Cup will again hold extra significance as it will continue to be played in memory of Jerome Brecard, who sadly passed away from bowel cancer in July 2019. The game will form the Jerome Brecard Cup, with the winning team presented with a trophy in Jerome’s memory. During the day and in the lead-up we are fundraising for charity. Further details to be confirmed shortly. 

REGISTRATION
Registration for this event is for individuals only and costs £25. Registration will close at 9am on Tuesday 13th June. However please note, places are limited and teams will more than likely fill up way in advance of this deadline. All places are available on a first come, first serve basis. NATIONAL KIT
Official International Cup playing jerseys, singlets, shorts and tights are available for pre-order before 9am, 12th May. 

International Cup kit is optional, but it’ll certainly make you feel the part as you join with your fellow team mates for the day to represent your nation.

If you choose not to purchase an official International Cup kit, please wear a jersey or shirt in your national colours. ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are otherwise compulsory, available from the Try Tag Rugby shop www.trytagrugby.com/shop in advance or via card on the day. Details on ITF approved (Tag Rugby) shorts and kit items not permitted. Shorts will also be available to hire on the day.
