Men's & Women's Tournament 2023

Following strong demand from the Try Tag Rugby community in the 2022 annual survey, we were keen to return a single gender tournament to the calendar and are pleased to announce that the TTR Men’s & Women’s Tournament will take place at Wasps FC on Sunday 12th November 2023.

This tournament will provide players of all levels with the opportunity to play competitive Tag Rugby outside of the traditional mixed format and instead test themselves in a single gender format.

In the tournament’s first year back in the calendar we will be running a scaled down version in order to assess the viability of the competition having a greater presence in the TTR tournament season. As such both the men’s and the women’s divisions are limited to an eight team capacity and will be played in the 7-a-side format due to the space available at Wasps FC.

The tournament will run on the Sunday to avoid a clash with the Saturday leagues.

FORMAT

• All teams will have a guaranteed game time of 90 minutes with 8 team spaces in each of the Men’s & Women’s Divisions 
• Maximum of 12 players per squad
• Both the Men’s & Women’s Divisions will play in the 7-a-side format, according to the latest version of the ITF’s Rulebook
• All players must be registered for insurance purposes
• Teams will be seeded based on submitted squads. Squads must be complete by 30th October
• Seeding is done at the discretion of Try Tag Rugby, incomplete squads may result in higher seeding than expected
• Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded

VENUE
The Men’s & Women’s Tournament 2023 will take place at Wasps FC, Twyford Avenue Sports Ground, Twyford Ave, W3 9QA, just a ten minute walk from Ealing Common tube station. The venue is also only ten minutes drive from Hangar Lane Gyratory and the A40 for those wishing to come by car, however we would encourage all players to arrive by public transport where possible.

ON THE DAY
Teams will be welcome to arrive onsite from 11:00 with the first games starting at 12:00. All players should be onsite at least 30 minutes before their first game. Play will be completed no later than 16:10.

Wasps FC’s in-house caterers will be onsite throughout the day ensuring you are well fed between and after your matches. The club bar will be open following the tournament, to finish your weekend on the perfect note.

Spectators are welcome free of charge but cannot bring dogs or alcohol onsite.

PLAYING KIT
ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are compulsory, available from the Try Tag Rugby shop www.trytagrugbyshop.com in advance only. Details on ITF Approved (Tag Rugby) Shorts / Details on Kit Items not Permitted. A limited number of hire shorts will be available on the day (£8 to hire for the day).

REGISTRATION
Team registration is available at the cost of £220 for squads of 12.

If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual for £23 and we will assign you to a bespoke Individuals’ Team of a similar standard.
