Brighton & Hove is famous for culinary delights, great nightlife, and lots of activities such as sea-swimming, kayaking and hiking in the nearby South Downs. Along with playing Tag Rugby, there is a real opportunity to make this a social weekend away for your team, and make the most of what this destination seaside city has to offer.

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • 90 minutes of game time
  • Pool stages followed by a Cup, Plate, Bowl or Shield competition
  • Standalone ‘Tuaca Cup’ final on the main pitch in front of the crowd
  • Food vendors & bars available

TAG RUGBY FORMAT

  • Maximum of 12 players per squad, maximum 4 male players on the pitch at any one time
  • All teams will play Try Tag Rugby’s standard rules in a 7-a-side format
  • All players must be registered for insurance purposes
  • Teams will be seeded based on submitted squads. Squads must be complete by 5pm on Monday 28th July
  • Seeding is done at the discretion of Try Tag Rugby, incomplete squads may result in higher seeding than expected
  • Consumption of alcohol by players is prohibited until the tournament has concluded
  • All teams can have no more than four internationally capped players per squad

PRESENTATION & AFTER PARTY

On completion of the finals, the presentations will take place at Brighton Rugby Club before the after party kicks-off. Final details on the after-party will be confirmed nearer the time but there will be an after-after party at a central location in Brighton for those who wish to party into the small hours.

VENUE

TagFest Brighton 2025 will be held at Brighton Rugby Club on Waterhall Road. Trains to Preston Park and Brighton stations take just over 1 hour from London and leave players a short taxi ride from the venue. If teams are arriving by car, the venue is conveniently located right off the A23 as you come in from London and there is very reasonable paid parking (approx £2.50 for the day). Cars can be left overnight but please adhere to the parking signs on site.

Full changing facilities are available across the day for use before, during and after the tournament – particularly important for getting yourself changed into your after party outfit once the games are finished.Four legged friends are welcome to attend, as long as they are kept on a lead during games.

PLAYING KIT

ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are strictly compulsory, available via card on the day. Details on ITF Approved (Tag Rugby) Shorts / Details on Kit Items not Permitted. Shorts will also be available to hire on the day for £5.

We will have a limited number of Brighton & Hove custom designed shorts and tights available to buy at the event and players can contact us in advance if they would like to reserve some.

ON THE DAY

All teams and players will be required to arrive at the venue in order to register at least one hour before kick off with the first games starting at 11am. Exact registration opening times will be confirmed in the welcome email. Play will be completed for 17:00.

FOOD & DRINK

Food and drink will be available on the day starting with breakfast and tea/coffee from 10am. Food vendors will be selling food at the break in games over lunchtime and again when the games are finished to prepare you for the night ahead! You are welcome to bring snacks. No alcohol may be brought on site – bags may be searched on entry to the event.

SPECTATORS

Spectators are more than welcome, so make sure you invite your friends and family along to enjoy the day and all it has to offer in the evening.

REGISTRATION

Team registration is available at the cost of £230 for squads of 12.

If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual for £25 and where possible we will assign you to a bespoke Individuals’ Team of a similar standard or place you on a team that has requested additional players.

If you have a couple of mates and want to play together but you don’t have enough for a team, please sign up as individuals and contact us by email (brighton@trytagrugby.com) with the players’ names who wish to be placed on a team together.
