TagFest Bristol 2023

Summer 2023 will mark the start of the fifth year of Tag in Bristol, and what better way to celebrate than to host teams from across the country at our TagFest this year!

After a successful event last year, despite the weather, we are looking forward to welcoming teams back to Bristol in the peak of summertime!

This year’s event will return to Lockleaze Sports Centre for the third time, a modern venue towards the north of the city. It is a very popular spot with our Bristol teams with great facilities to host a tag festival!

There will be a real party atmosphere during the day, with music, fancy dress, and BBQ. The presentation and the after party will be held on site after matches have finished. At TagFest Bristol, we love our fancy dress, and will be honouring our tradition this year! The fancy dress theme this year will be “Heroes and Villains”, with prizes for best dressed team and individual.

With top-notch facilities and a great atmosphere, you’ll be sure to have an unforgettable time. Whether you’re a seasoned tag player or a newbie, TagFest Bristol caters to all levels of experience. So grab your teammates and join us for a day of fun, competition, and camaraderie.

FORMAT
– All games will be 7-a-side and will have a guaranteed game time of at least 90 minutes
– Regular Try Tag Rugby Rules apply
– Maximum of 12 players per squad, maximum of 4 male players on the pitch at any one time
– Teams will be seeded and graded based on submitted squad lists prior to the tournament
– Squad lists must be complete by the end of Sunday 9th July at the very latest
– Pools will be created which in turn will break out into Cup, Plate and Bowl competitions so there is always something to play for
– Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded

If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual and we will assign you to a new team or we can build a team around you on request.

PRESENTATION & AFTER-PARTY
On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place on the mezzanine overlooking the matches. After the presentation is finished the after-party will begin! This year, the party will be on-site at the venue, with a DJ playing until close at midnight!

VENUE
This year’s event will be hosted at Lockleaze Sports Centre. Accessible by car, taxi or bus from Bristol. The venue is also 5 minutes walking distance from Filton Abbey Wood train station. Free on-site parking is also available.

Please note: this venue uses a modern 3G rubber crumb surface, so strictly no flat soled shoes / trainers are permitted

ON THE DAY
All teams and players will be required to arrive at the venue in order to register at least one hour before kick off with the first games starting at 11:00am. Exact registration opening times will be confirmed in the welcome email. Play will be completed for 17:30 followed by an after-match presentation and drinks.

FOOD & DRINK
Food and drink will be available on the day. There will be a bar and kitchen available to players and spectators in the clubhouse, as well as a BBQ on-site and an outdoor bar (weather dependent!).

SPECTATORS
Spectators are more than welcome, so make sure you bring your friends and family to enjoy the day and all it has to offer in the evening. Dogs are also allowed at the venue when on a lead.

PLAYING KIT
ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are compulsory and will be available to purchase via card on the day. Details on ITF Approved (Tag Rugby) Shorts / Details on Kit Items not Permitted. Shorts will also be available to hire on the day.

ELIGIBILITY
A maximum of four international players allowed per team (any player named in 2023 British, Irish, Australian, New Zealand or South African squads).

REGISTRATION
Team registration is available at the cost of £210 for squads of 12.

If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual for £24 and we will assign you to a bespoke Individuals’ Team of a similar standard.

If you have a couple of mates and want to play together as part of an individuals’ team, sign up and drop a line to bristol@trytagrugby.com with the players’ names.

The registration deadline for both teams and individuals is 9am on Saturday 1st July or when the event sells out.

TAGFEST LONDON
Register a team for your home TagFest and receive 20% cash-back off TagFest London team registration. Applies to non-London based teams only. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

Team names should be the same at all TagFest tournaments, six or more of the same players must participate at each tournament. To redeem, email info@trytagrugby.com with your team name after registration and one week prior to TagFest London.
