TagFest Edinburgh 2023

TagFest Edinburgh 2023 will take place on 2nd September and will be the inaugural TagFest event in Scotland following the launch of Try Tag Rugby Edinburgh in 2022.

We’re excited to welcome players from across the UK and beyond and give them a taste of what Scotland has to offer whilst playing Tag Rugby for the day! The day will bring a festival atmosphere with plenty of off-field activities, competitions and entertainment to set the mood for the day.

As the first TagFest in Scotland, TagFest Edinburgh 2023 will give players the chance to see what Tag in Scotland is about- it’ll bring a fun atmosphere, a post-tournament party combined with the chance to play in Scotland’s capital city. As the first TagFest north of the border we’re determined to make it one to remember!

Over the coming months we’ll be announcing the off-field competitions that will take place throughout the day and into the evening at TagFest Edinburgh 2023.
TagFest Edinburgh 2023 will be held at Duddingston Playing Fields, overlooked by the famous Arthur’s Seat. We look forward to welcoming the first TagFest players to Edinburgh in September!

FORMAT
The first matches of TagFest Edinburgh 2023 will kick-off at 11am and culminate with the Cup final on the main pitch. The winners’ presentations will take place shortly after the final.

– All teams will play through the pool stages to determine whether they make it into the Cup, Plate, Bowl or Shield competition for their division.
– All teams will have a guaranteed game time of 90 minutes
– Maximum of 12 players per squad and a maximum of 4 male players on the pitch at any one time
– 2023 7-a-side Try Tag Rugby rules apply
– All players must be registered for insurance purposes
– Teams will be seeded based on submitted squads. Squads must be complete by Friday 18th August
– Seeding is done at the discretion of Try Tag Rugby, incomplete squads may result in higher seeding than expected
– Consumption of alcohol by players is prohibited until the tournament has concluded

PRESENTATION & AFTER PARTY
On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place in Portobello F P RFC Clubhouse before the after-party kicks-off in the city centre until late.

AFTER-PARTY & NON-PLAYER TICKETS
TagFest Edinburgh 2023 is a non-ticketed event. With plenty of entertainment on and off the field, we would encourage friends & family of those participating to come along for the day & evening to take in the flavour of the event.

VENUE
TagFest Edinburgh 2023 will take place at Duddingston Playing Fields, Duddingston Rd., Edinburgh, EH15 1ND located a 10-minute drive from Edinburgh City Centre or 30 minutes by public transport. The venue has limited parking for travelling teams wishing to drive, however we’d encourage all attendees to arrive by public transport where possible.

Full female and male changing facilities are available on site for use before, during and after the tournament. Please note, dogs are permitted at this venue, responsible dog ownership is expected.

ON THE DAY
Fixtures for the day are scheduled to take place between 11:00am and 5:30pm with exact timings to be confirmed once seeding is complete. All teams and players will be required to arrive at the venue in order to register at least one hour before kick off. Exact registration opening times will be confirmed in the welcome email.The winner’s presentation and drinks will follow the Cup Grand Final with the official after-party in the city centre then running until late.

FOOD & DRINK
Food vendors will be on-site throughout the day’s play providing a variety of culinary options for teams and spectators. The Clubhouse bar will also be open to spectators during the day and to players at the end of play to keep the drinks flowing before we move to the city centre for the after-party!

PLAYING KIT
ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are strictly compulsory and will be available to purchase via card on the day. Details on ITF Approved (Tag Rugby) Shorts / Details on Kit Items not Permitted. Shorts will also be available to hire on the day. We will have a merchandise shop available at the event, showcasing new and popular lines of shorts, tights, balls and more.

Team registration is available at the cost of £225 for squads of 12.

If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual for £25 and we will assign you to a bespoke Individuals’ Team of a similar standard or place you on a team that has requested additional players.If you have a couple of mates and want to play together as part of an individuals’ team, sign up and contact us at edinburgh@trytagrugby.com with the players’ names.

The registration deadline for both teams and individuals is 11am Friday 18th August or when the event sells out.

TAGFEST LONDON
Register a team for your home TagFest and receive 20% cash-back off TagFest London team registration. Applies to non-London based teams only. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

Team names should be the same at all TagFest tournaments, six or more of the same players must participate at each tournament.
