TagFest Wigan 2023

We are excited for the return of TagFest Wigan to this year’s TagFest Series but also to be given the honour of being the first northern Tagfest of the 2023 TagFest Series.

For a place as synonymous with top class Rugby as Wigan, it’s sure to be a cracking day of Tag Rugby. It won’t just be the action on the pitch that makes it a great day however, with the eagerly anticipated and hotly contested pie eating competition and half-time tug-of-war contest making a welcome return.

That’s right, Tag & pies….. what more could you ask for? How about tag & pies finished off with an epic post tournament after party!

For those travelling to the event, Wigan is a short distance from Manchester and due to it being located on the West Coast mainline is just two hours on the train from London.

FORMAT
– All games will be 7-a-side and will have a guaranteed game time of at least 90 minutes
– Regular Try Tag Rugby Rules apply
– Maximum of 12 players per squad, minimum 3 females on the pitch at any one time
– Teams will be seeded and graded based on submitted squad lists prior to the tournament
– Squad lists must be complete by 9am Friday 23rd June at the very latest
– Pools will be created which in turn will break out into Cup, Plate and Bowl etc competitions so there is always something to play for
– If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual and we will assign you to a new team or we can build a team around you on request
– Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded

PRESENTATION & AFTER-PARTY
On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place in the clubhouse before the after-party kicks-off for all players. A venue will also be arranged in Wigan for players to continue the party at the after-after party!

VENUE
Try Tag Rugby Wigan are delighted to develop their partnership further with the popular host venue Wigan St.Cuthberts ARLFC, Montrose Avenue, Wigan, WN5 9XN which is a ten-minute taxi drive from Wigan’s two main train stations.

Full female and male changing facilities are available on-site for use before, during and after the tournament – particularly important for getting yourself changed into your after-party outfit once the games are finished.

ON THE DAY
All teams and players will be required to arrive at the venue in order to register at least one hour before kick off with the first games starting at 11:30am. Exact registration opening times will be confirmed in the welcome email. Play will be completed for 17:00 with the after-match party running until late, before the party then heads to a venue in Wigan for the after-after party.

FOOD & DRINK
Food and drink will be available on the day.

SPECTATORS
Spectators are more than welcome, so make sure you bring your friends and family to enjoy the day and all it has to offer in the evening.

PLAYING KIT
ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are compulsory and will be available to purchase via card on the day. Details on ITF Approved (Tag Rugby) Shorts / Details on Kit Items not Permitted. Shorts will also be available to hire on the day.

REGISTRATION
Team registration is available at the cost of £190 for squads of 12. However, the first 5 teams to register can take advantage of our early bird offer at the low price of £160!

If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual for £23 and we will assign you to a bespoke Individuals’ Team of a similar standard.

The registration deadline for both teams and individuals is 9am Friday 23rd June or when the event sells out.

TAGFEST LONDON
Register a team for your home TagFest and receive 20% cash-back off TagFest London team registration. Applies to non-London based teams only. Cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

Team names should be the same at all TagFest tournaments, six or more of the same players must participate at each tournament.
