What to expect
Free tasters are beginner sessions, no experience is necessary, all levels of fitness are welcome. We ask all participants in the Free Taster Session to arrive 15 minutes before the start time. On arrival at the venue, you will be greeted by one of our friendly and easy to spot staff, wearing red TTR branded kit, who will give you a pair of Tag Rugby shorts to borrow.
Each Free Taster Session will start with an introduction, a briefing on the basic rules and skills of the game, followed by some fun practice drills. This will progress into a game and participants having an opportunity to play their first game of Tag Rugby! All sessions will be taken by an experienced, friendly, and welcoming Try Tag Rugby member of staff, referee or coach who will be able to answer any Tag Rugby specific questions that you may have.
After the session there will be a post-match social at a nearby partner pub.
How do I sign up to a Free Taster?
To register, find your nearest session using the map above and then register your details. Attending a Free Taster is a great way to get a feel for the sport and our community & can be a different location to where you plan to join a league.
Once registered you will receive an automatic email with specific details and information about the session. We’ll also send you a reminder in the lead-up, but don’t forget to add the session to your calendar!
What do I bring?
All you need to bring is some comfortable sportswear, water bottle & a fun attitude! All equipment is provided including balls, tags and the Tag Rugby shorts needed to play the game.
Please note – Boots with metal studs are not allowed to be worn.
What if I can’t attend a Free Taster or none are available?
Don’t worry if you can’t attend a Free Taster Session, you don’t need to have been to one in order to play in one of our leagues. Lots of people sign up to our leagues and events without having played before. All our leagues and events have a friendly member of staff who will meet you on your first time and be able to give you a briefing on the basic rules as well as some tips on how to start playing.
Our staff & refs are also on hand throughout the season should you have any further queries or want any further help or advice!
At times when there are no Free Taster Sessions open for registration or if there’s not one suitable for you, we can potentially arrange a trial game for you in a league. Please contact us for more information.
Private Group Taster Sessions
If you have a group of 10 or more people and you can’t attend one of the scheduled Taster Sessions, we would be happy to organise a private Taster Session at a venue, time and location that works. Please contact us for more information.
