The ‘must attend’ tournament of the year. TagFest™ London consists of a day of Tag Rugby with a festival atmosphere and a massive after-party.
After much success to build on in 2019, TagFest™ London is set to take place in June 2021, the ultimate post-pandemic event for your calendar!
Our aim is to create the most engaging, efficient, enjoyable and all-inclusive Tag Rugby tournament ever. After a full day of Tag Rugby, the post tournament party will begin and continue late into the night with live music and DJ playing your favourite tunes.
Over the coming months we’ll be announcing additions to TagFest™ London 2021 in the form of all things entertainment.
Rest assured, we can already confirm multiple bars onsite, plenty of food vendors, a new tournament format, a new tournament location and an even later license. We look forward to welcoming over 100 teams to Tagfest™ London 2021 from the UK, Ireland, France and beyond.
TagFest™ London 2021 will take place at Richmond Athletic Ground, in South-West London, just a five minute walk from Richmond train station.
TagFest™ London 2021 will staggered start times beginning from 10:00am for Division 2 and 3 and culminating with the Division 1 final on the main pitch, in front of the grandstand. The winners’ presentations will take place shortly after the final.
All teams will play through the pool stages to determine whether they make it into the Cup, Plate, Bowl or Shield competition for their division. The four divisions will have staggered finish times to allow easy access to the bar for a well earned drink after your final.
- All games will be 7-a-side and will have a guaranteed game time of at least 90 minutes
- Maximum of 12 players per squad, minimum 3 females on the pitch at any one time
- Division 1 will play with Try Tag Rugby’s extended rules (7-a-side still applies). Regular Try Tag Rugby rules apply for all other divisions
- Division 1 teams can include a maximum of eight current Great Britain or other international representatives while there can be no more than two per team in Division 2/3
- To qualify for Division 4, teams must be made up of players that have not played prior to 2021 with the exception of up to four more experienced players
- All players must be registered for insurance purposes
- Teams will be seeded based on submitted squads. Squads must be complete by 24th May
- Seeding is done at the discretion of Try Tag Rugby, incomplete squads may result in higher seeding than expected
- Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded
PRESENTATION & AFTER PARTY
On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place in the main clubhouse before the after-party kicks-off for all players with live music, multiple bars and food options, followed by a DJ and dance floor until midnight. After party tickets can be bought for friends and family and include a token for a free drink to get their night off to a great start!
Try Tag Rugby are excited to have secured a venue with great pitches, great scalability and great access for all teams whether travelling by tube, overground, car, bus or from overseas. TagFest™ 2021 will take place at Richmond Athletic Ground, Twickenham Rd, Richmond TW9 2SF, just a five minute walk from Richmond train station. The M4, M25 and Heathrow are all less than 30 minutes from the ground with parking available for those wishing to drive.
Full male and female changing facilities are available on site for use before, during and after the tournament – particularly important for getting yourself changed into your after-party outfit once the games are finished. Please note, dogs are not permitted at this venue unless required for assistance.
ON THE DAY
Division 2 and 3 teams will need to arrive for registration no later than 09:00 with the first games starting at 10:00. Division 1 and 4 teams will need to arrive no later than 11:30 with their first matches kicking off at 12:30. Play will be completed for 18:30 with the after-match social running until midnight.
FOOD & DRINK
Try Tag Rugby recognise some of the challenges at TagFest™ 2019 and these have been addressed. Multiple bars, multiple food vendors, staggered lunch and finish windows have all been accounted for as well as the opportunity to pre-order cases of beer or cider (coming soon).
Make sure you bring your friends and family to enjoy the day and all it has to offer in the evening. To gain entry during the matches, non-players will be required to register in advance – there is no cost, everyone is welcome, the more the merrier… Just register a spectator’s. (This is not the same as a non-player’s after-party ticket which will have to be bought separately.)
Official TagFest™ regional shorts and tights will be available to order on our online shop (from March 2021) at www.trytagrugby.com/shop, with a selection also available at each event.
ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are compulsory, available from the Try Tag Rugby shop www.trytagrugby.com/shop in advance or via card on the day. Details on ITF Approved (Tag Rugby) Shorts / Details on Kit Items not Permitted. Shorts will also be available to hire on the day.
Team registration is available at the cost of £230 for squads of 12. However, the first 30 teams to register can take advantage of our early bird offer at the low price of £180!
If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual for £24 and we will assign you to a bespoke Individuals’ Team of a similar standard.

COVID-19 AND CANCELLATIONS
Events will adhere to relevant Covid-19 guidelines. Details of Try Tag Rugby’s latest regulations will be circulated in the event welcome email which all players must familiarise themselves with. If any event has to be postponed or rescheduled, players will have the option to carry over their registration or be refunded.
REGIONAL TAGFEST™ TOURNAMENTS
Register a team for TagFest™ London and receive 20% cash-back off all other regional TagFest team registrations. (Applies to London based teams only, cannot be used in conjunction with any regional early bird offers.)
Team names should be the same at all TagFest™ tournaments, six or more of the same players must participate at each tournament.
