New General Manager for Try Tag Rugby Yorkshire and Manchester

As Try Tag Rugby continues to grow and develop, some exciting changes will take place in the London and Yorkshire offices.

Try Tag Rugby’s London Operations Manager, Bobby Domville, will take up a new role heading up the Yorkshire and Manchester regions, while current General Manager for the regions Carl Duckels, will take up a role of National Franchise Manager.

Bobby Domville, who joined the company three years ago, initially as a League Organiser said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my three years working at the London office and it’s been great to watch the popularity of the sport increase throughout this time.

“I consider myself fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work with Try Tag Rugby and to meet so many great people through organising the leagues in London. I am delighted to accept the offer and I look forward to starting the role and moving back north. I’m excited to continue the great work that Carl has done over the past few years and look forward to developing the game of Tag Rugby in Yorkshire and Manchester.”

Try Tag Rugby successfully launched its first two franchises in Bristol and Coventry & Warwickshire in 2018. The National Franchise Manager role will involve managing Try Tag Rugby’s existing franchisees as well as launching further franchises around the country.

Carl Duckels, who joined Try Tag Rugby in London during 2011, moved to Leeds to set up the Yorkshire office in 2015, said: “The new role is an exciting opportunity and I’m really looking forward to trying to help spread this fantastic game around the rest of the UK.

“I’m really proud of what we have achieved in Yorkshire and more recently Manchester, since 2015 and hopefully the experience of setting Try Tag Rugby up in both these locations will help me in the new role. Try Tag Rugby is a great product and I can’t wait to see more of the UK getting involved.

“I would like to say thank you to all the players, referees, staff and partners that have got involved and helped in getting Try Tag Rugby Yorkshire and Try Tag Rugby Manchester to the strong positions they are into today. Although I am excited about the new position, I would be lying if I said it is not a wrench to be leaving my role in charge of Try Tag Rugby Yorkshire on Try Tag Rugby Manchester.

“A large part of what makes working for Try Tag Rugby so enjoyable is the people and I’m really going to miss being out at the leagues in Yorkshire and Manchester with the players. I am still going to be based in Leeds however, so I still plan to get out and about to some of the leagues from time to time. The new role will mean less evenings out at leagues and I am hoping this will give me the opportunity to start playing regularly again. My wife and I also recently welcomed our second child into the world, so more importantly it’s hoped the new position will give me the opportunity to spend some more evenings at home with both the children and my wife.”

The new roles will begin on Monday 12th November.
