Try Tag Rugby, the Rugby Football League’s (RFL) Tag Rugby League partner, is running a competition for Tag Rugby players to play during half-time during game three (Hull KR Vs Hull FC) of Magic Weekend on Sunday 20th May.
Dacia Magic Weekend heads back to St James’ Park in Newcastle for a fourth successive year and here is your chance to watch some of the Betfred Super League’s biggest derby matches over one weekend at the one venue.
Last year an aggregate crowd of 65,407 people (3rd highest in the 11 year concept) attended the event over the two days for what is one of the best showcase’s of Rugby League in the country for old fans, new fans and anyone who fancies a great day out.
The exhibition Tag Rugby match on St.James’ Park that is expected to take place in front of 30,000 plus fans will feature a South England Select team (London/Reading) Vs a North England Select team (Manchester/Yorkshire). The fixture will be played in the 7 a-side mixed format. We will select nine players at random for both sides (5 males & 4 females).

5.15PM – Wigan Warriors Vs Warrington Wolves
7.30PM – Castleford Tigers Vs Leeds Rhinos

3.15PM – Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Vs Huddersfield Giants
5.30PM – Hull KR Vs Hull FC
To be in the draw to showcase Tag Rugby on the St James’ Park pitch, all you have to do is “share” our Facebook post (your privacy settings must be set so we can see that you’ve shared the post) and/or retweet our Twitter post relating to our Early Summer league Free Taster Sessions that are now open. Please see the ‘How to enter’ section below for details of the specific posts to share.
We will also be playing a 40-minute game of Tag Rugby on the Sunday at 1pm nearby to St James’ Park, exact location TBC. The Tag Rugby contingent will then head into the stadium and play on the St James’ Park pitch at 6.15pm.
Tag Rugby players selected will get the opportunity to play on the St James’ Park pitch at half-time of the big local derby match between Hull KR and Hull FC, free entry to Sunday of the Magic Weekend and a Try Tag Rugby promo t-shirt. Players must make their own way to Newcastle and book their own accommodation.
For anyone heading up on the Saturday (19th May), a meeting point will be announced in due course for any members of the Tag Rugby community travelling to Newcastle, to join up so all players and staff can meet for a drink on the Saturday night. We will also have a discounted ticket offer for any Tag Rugby players selected for the exhibition match to attend the Saturday matches of Magic Weekend if they wish to do so.
