Since starting in March this year, Try Tag Rugby Edinburgh North, has taken the city of Edinburgh by storm. Clodagh Nic Lochlainn operates the licence part time alongside her full time job in a financial services organisation. Clodagh had previously played in Try Tag Rugby Leagues in London and Bristol. When she found no Try Tag Rugby Leagues in Edinburgh she decided to combine her love of the game with her ambition to run her own business by starting a licence part-time alongside her full time job.

From a starting point of no Tag Rugby in the city, the licence got off to a fantastic start with 16 teams playing in the first ever season in Early Summer. This increased to 20 teams in the latter part of summer and has continued to grow with 24 teams currently playing each week in the sold out Autumn Leagues on a Monday and Tuesday night.

Try Tag Rugby Edinburgh North licence owner Clodagh Nic Lochlainn said: “Getting involved with Try Tag Rugby as a Licensee was a great step into a sports business for me – a great blend of the two things I’m passionate about! The support given, and the organisation has been brilliant for someone who works full time but wanted to make a difference in my area through sport. It’s a quick learning curve but the team at Try Tag Rugby are there to help with all the little things I hadn’t thought of – they’ve done it many times before and this knowledge is invaluable. I’d encourage anyone with a passion for sport, business and a bit of hard work to take the leap into licencing with Try Tag Rugby”.

In addition to the Tag Rugby on the pitch, Try Tag Rugby Edinburgh North Clodagh has developed a thriving social scene around the leagues with 60+ players regularly going back to a local pub for a drink and some post match food during summer.
