Update: Monday 16th March 2020, 17:43
Following the latest government press conference tonight’s leagues (Monday 16th March) are cancelled.
We apologise for the short-notice and the obvious inconvenience this will cause.
We will assess over the coming hours and release a further statement tomorrow morning.
Update: Monday 16th March 2020
With the ongoing situation regarding the Coronavirus, Try Tag Rugby has been following appropriate medical and government advice and preparing for any possible developments without taking any premature or unnecessary decisions. As the government advice regarding gatherings of the size present at our leagues has not changed since our statement on Friday 6th March all of our leagues are currently continuing.
However, we have decided to temporarily extend the ringer rule to allow teams two female and two male ringers per team, up to a maximum of one female and one male substitute, to make it easier for teams struggling for numbers to field a team. A team requiring four ringers is allowed to have all of them on the field of play at the same time.
We have reminded our Venue Supervisors to take all necessary and practical steps to ensure the tags, balls, cones and hire shorts are clean and safe for players to come into contact with. This also requires your cooperation as the best way to ensure the virus does not end up on tags, balls or hire shorts is for all players, as well as our staff, to follow the government’s hand-washing advice. We would also remind players to use an elbow bump or similar in place of the usual post-match handshakes.
We will continue to monitor all the appropriate medical advice and encourage our players and all members of the tag community to take all reasonable precautions to stay healthy while we continue to offer an opportunity to get out and be active during this difficult time.

We are monitoring official sources carefully regarding Coronavirus, as it stands all our Leagues and Events are running as normal. Any decisions regarding our Leagues and Events in the future will be based on the official government advice but given the nature of our activity being outdoors in unconfined spaces we don’t envisage any future disruption.
In the meantime, we urge our staff, referees and players to follow the advice regarding good hygiene practices and wash hands thoroughly. We ask players to forgo the usual pre- and post-game handshake and go for an elbow bump or similar instead.
If you become unwell follow the guidance available at the following link.
