TagFest Coventry & Warwickshire 2022

After a fantastic TagFest Coventry in 2021 the only Midlands tournament in the TagFest Series is looking forward to welcoming teams from all corners of the country.
Just imagine – the sun is shining, an early start, playing Try Tag Rugby all morning and into the early afternoon and then relaxing with your teammates and the rest of the TagFest players whilst taking in a Rugby League game, enjoying a cold drink and street food and then partying into the late evening with some tunes and festival vibes!
This year’s event will be hosted at the home of the Midlands Hurricanes Rugby League and will be played on the same (and adjacent) pitches, just minutes before the professional Rugby League players take to the pitch with a 5:30pm KO against North Wales Crusaders. Hosted just south of Birmingham (just 30 min drive from Coventry), at Birmingham and Solihull Bees RFC, the countryside venue is picture perfect for a Saturday full of Rugby!
With a capacity of 24 teams, TagFest Coventry & Warwickshire 2022 has ambitious growth plans, offering divisions for all standards and an after-party to be reckoned with, onsite festival vibes, street food vendors and craft beer outdoor bars. The TagFest party will remain onsite with a local DJ playing summer tunes throughout the afternoon and late into the evening.
There is ample free parking onsite and trains run hourly from Birmingham Moor Street Station to within a 1.5 mile walk from the ground.
For the first time ever TagFest Coventry& Warwickshire will also have camping available! More details below.
We look forward to sharing more details as we approach the event but fair to say, it will be a great day of Tag, great festival feel and after-party, a great location and a great weekend.
FORMAT
– All games will be 7-a-side and will have a guaranteed game time of at least 90 minutes
– Regular Try Tag Rugby Rules apply
– Maximum of 12 players per squad, minimum 3 female on the pitch at any one time
– Teams will be seeded and graded based on submitted squad lists prior to the tournament
– Squad lists must be complete by the end of 3rd July at the very latest
– Pools will be created which in turn will break out into Cup, Plate and Bowl etc competitions so there is always something to play for
– Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded
If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual and we will assign you to a new team or we can build a team around you on request.
PRESENTATION & AFTER PARTY
On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place at half time of the Midlands Hurricanes game, pitch side, before the after-party kicks-off in style after the League 1 game for all players and continues into the evening, all on site.
VENUE
This year’s event will be hosted at Birmingham and Solihull Bees RFC, Forshaw Heath Lane, Portway, Birmingham, B94 5LH. Located just off the M42 (junction 3), the venue is South of Birmingham and close to Solihull and Stratford Upon Avon. Onsite parking is available.
ON THE DAY
All teams and players will be required to arrive at the venue in order to register at least one hour before kick off with the first games starting at 11am. Exact registration opening times will be confirmed in the welcome email. Play will be completed for 17:00 with the after-match party onsite taking advantage of the street food vendors and craft ale bars outside (don’t worry there is an indoor bar and shelter in case the weather misbehaves!)
FOOD & DRINK
Food and Drink venues will be available from 12pm and into the evening on site.
Camping
Teams will be able to get into the full festival spirit by camping on site on the Friday and Saturday nights. Camping will be available for a small charge of £10 per tent per night. For more information and to book your tent pitch email coventry@trytagrugby.com.
SPECTATORS
Spectators are more than welcome, so make sure you bring your friends and family to enjoy the day and all it has to offer in the evening.
PLAYING KIT
ITF approved Tag Rugby shorts or tights are compulsory and will be available to purchase via card on the day. Details on ITF Approved (Tag Rugby) Shorts / Details on Kit Items not Permitted. Shorts will also be available to hire on the day.
REGISTRATION
Team registration is available at the cost of £170 for squads of 12. However, the first 5 teams to register can take advantage of our early bird offer at the low price of £140!
If your usual team can’t play or you just fancy a bit of a change, don’t worry, you can always register for the tournament as an individual for £20 and we will assign you to a bespoke Individuals’ Team of a similar standard.

The registration deadline for both teams and individuals is the end of 3rd July or when the event sells out.
COVID-19 AND CANCELLATIONS
Events will adhere to relevant Covid-19 guidelines. Details of Try Tag Rugby’s latest regulations will be circulated in the event welcome email which all players must familiarise themselves with. If any event has to be postponed or rescheduled, players will have the option to carry over their registration or be refunded.
