Try Tag Rugby and Tag Sports CIC are excited to launch a new partnership which will see the two organisations working together for the benefit of Tag Rugby, women players and coaches and underrepresented ethnicities, along with teenagers and children in the UK.
Tag Sports is a non for profit Community Interest Company that has been created with the aim to increase participation in sport and exercise across the United Kingdom, primarily focussing on increasing access to Tag Rugby for women, underrepresented ethnicities, teenagers and children.
Try Tag Rugby is the UK’s leading non contact Rugby organisation, with nearly 900 adult Tag Rugby teams and over 10,000 players registered to play weekly throughout the UK during summer 2023.
The partnership’s fundamental objective is to grow the sport of Tag Rugby in the UK. Both organisations will support each other in all areas of operations and marketing, to encourage increased sports participation.
Whilst Try Tag Rugby specialises in league and events, Tag Sports specialises in coaching, having recently advertised women’s Tag Rugby coaching sessions in four locations across London in May and June. As Tag Sports grows, these sessions will be rolled out further across the UK in the coming months. Sessions can be booked here.
Try Tag Rugby will be supporting Tag Sports in a number of areas such as providing introductions to partners and suppliers, providing desk and storage space at TTR HQ and marketing Tag Sports activities throughout our networks.
In return Tag Sports will direct new participants towards Try Tag Rugby leagues and events, helping to grow the diversity of players regularly participating in Tag Rugby across the UK. Tag Sports will also develop a network of Tag Rugby coaches, providing a pathway for players into coaching, which will lead to a bigger pool of coaches looking to coach elite level Tag Rugby over the coming years.
Heading up Tag Sports is Programme Lead, Ben Shanahan-Sanders who said of the partnership and launch: “It is really exciting to be partnered with TTR as we start our journey as an organisation. I fully believe that this will enable us to create opportunities to take the sport to places and people that otherwise would not have had the opportunity to experience the benefits of Tag, and hopefully build a strong pathway for players across the United Kingdom.”
About Each Organisation
Tag Sports
Tag Sports is a Community Interest Company that has been created with the aim to increase participation in sport and exercise across the United Kingdom, in order to benefit the health and wellbeing of the communities it works in. Tag Sports will be offering new opportunities and prioritising groups that are currently underrepresented in the sport.
Tag Sports believes that sport is for all and wants to help remove barriers to participation, by creating a safe environment for its participants to learn and enjoy themselves. Initially Tag Sports will primarily focus in particular on women and ethnically diverse communities due to the lower numbers of these groups currently playing.
