Acton Wasps FC was host to the London Women’s and Men’s tournament once again this year, following on from the success of last year’s tournament. 12 teams graced the fields of Acton with their presence. 8 women’s and 4 men’s teams participated in what was a quick fire afternoon of Tag that culminated in a well deserved pint on the clubhouse deck as the sun set behind us.

The Tag was played in good spirits with the weather trying to dampen the mood for a good 5 minutes before deciding it wasn’t worth the hassle, letting the sun shine through on a lovely afternoon. Teams from various parts of the country came together to enjoy some exciting Tag and to throw a ball around with friends. After 6 matches undefeated, The Corporates came out on top in the final, being taken all the way to the end by a strong opposition in Hot Tag’O, eventually taking the win and becoming champions of the Women’s Tournament! The men saw a double round robin which was dominated by Al-Try-Eda, easily earning themselves a spot in the final, with East Finchley RFC scraping their way into the final through points difference. After a game that went back and forth, East Finchley RFC came away with the win, becoming champions of the men’s tournament!

After the Tag had ended, the best chicken burgers around in Free Range Jane were consumed, pints were downed and rounds of applause were given, it was time for a boogie on the dance floor. Our DJ Angus played some tunes for the crew and a wonderful evening was had.

We can’t forget the referees! What a display they put on. The standard and consistency was amazing throughout the afternoon, so we would like to say a massive thank you to all of our referees for their efforts on the day.

In addition to thanking all the players and referees, we would also like to thank all the staff and event partners for helping to make the event such a great day. A special thank you to the venue Acton Wasps FC who once again were great hosts. We hope everybody enjoyed the day and that we see you again in 2025!

Our attention now turns to the London Autumn Tournament, the final major London competition of the year. Try Tag Rugby’s annual Autumn Tournament London takes place in late October with a full day of Tag Rugby followed by the final official tournament after party until Spring 2024!
