Leagues & Events to Suit all Experience Levels

Tag Rugby is a great sport which can be played in many different formats, by players ranging from beginners to elite level.

Try Tag Rugby mostly focuses on mixed leagues, with all locations featuring mixed beginner to intermediate standard leagues which are perfect for beginners to join. Larger regions are also likely to offer higher standard mixed leagues, plus regular men’s & women’s leagues.

Mixed Leagues

We love sports played in the mixed format. Having men and women together on the pitch, produces a relaxed vibe, where teamwork, laughs & attendance at the post match social often take precedence over getting the win!

Our female friendly rules mean all members of the team have a part to play. Mixed leagues are perfect for beginners to learn the sport together, with many regions offering higher standard divisions for more experienced & competitive teams.

Women’s teams & leagues

Women’s sport is finally getting the recognition it deserves, with the feats of the England Lionesses & Red Roses inspiring a new generation of girls and women to get involved in sport.

Try Tag Rugby encourages all female teams to get involved in our leagues, be it off season Rugby, Football, Hockey or Netball teams looking to keep fitness & skill levels high, or individual players looking to find a team. Across all regions, it’s common to see female only teams enter our mixed leagues, whilst in some larger regions, stand alone women’s leagues & tournaments are offered.

At the elite level, women’s is offered as a category at the annual UK Tag Nationals event.

Men’s Leagues

Men’s Tag is a fast, competitive offering, allowing you to get your Rugby fix without the bumps & bruises of Rugby League or Rugby Union.

Men’s leagues & tournaments are popular with groups of friends, company teams and Rugby players keen to keep their skills up over the off season. Men’s leagues are offered in larger regions, whilst at the elite level both an open men’s category and a men’s over 40’s category is offered at the UK Tag Nationals.

Standards

Tag Rugby can be played by players of all standards, from those who’ve never even watched Rugby, through to experienced Rugby League or Rugby Union players looking to try a new format of Rugby.

All our leagues come with an advised standard, which gives some indication of what standard of play is offered at the venue. A rough guide to the standard of each grade is as follows:

Little or no experience of playing Tag Rugby or Rugby of any form

Experience of playing a couple of seasons of Tag at beginner grade or moderate experience of playing Rugby of any form

Experience of playing a number of seasons of Tag or experienced rugby player of any other form

Experienced Tag Rugby player or experienced rugby player who has played at least one season of Tag Rugby previously. Some additional International Rules are played

These leagues will include a mixture of players of all standards and are therefore open to all players.
