A number of changes will take place amongst the Great Britain coaching set-up as the Great Britain Elite Performance Squad (EPS) looks ahead to the British & Irish Cup in 2020 and the Tag World Cup in 2021.
The Great Britain Elite Performance Squad (EPS) is made up of players from the 2018 World Cup squads, British & Irish Cup train-on squads, and the National Development squads (NDS).
Murray Wilson is stepping down as Women’s Open Head Coach and Head of Great Britain Women’s Tag Rugby.
On behalf of all the playing community, Great Britain Tag Rugby would like to thank Murray for his commitment, dedication and enthusiasm to the women’s game. It goes without saying that a World Cup bronze medal in 2018 and being part of the successful British & Irish Cup victory in 2019 are both a testament to the effort and vision Murray has displayed over the last two years.
“Some of my best memories are from my time coaching Tag Rugby”, said Wilson. “Thank you to everyone who’s been involved in making my experience as special as it has been. The standard of Women’s Tag Rugby in this country has never been as high and it’s exciting knowing that it will only go from strength to strength.”
In further changes to the Great Britain Tag Rugby coaching set up, Mark Roughsedge has accepted the role of Women’s Open Head Coach and Head of Great Britain Women’s Tag Rugby. Mark will work closely with David Shipley as his Assistant Coach.
Cat Lindsay has accepted the role of Women’s Seniors Co-Coach alongside Kirsty Clarke. Cat brings a wealth of experience to the Great Britain set up as a player, coach and teacher. Cat’s playing experience includes sports representation at both Great Britain and county level whilst fulfilling the role of Netball Head Coach for Grasshoppers RFC seniors & juniors squads. Whilst running the Gifted & Talented Programme at school where she is also a PE teacher, Cat is also tasked with identifying talented athletes to be considered for County Netball and Netball Superleague franchises.
Great Britain Tag Rugby welcomes Cat to the coaching team, congratulates Mark on his new role and wishes Murray the best with all future endeavours.
