TagFest™ Yorkshire, the second largest in the series, returns in 2021. The biggest Tag Rugby tournament in the North of England, TagFest™ Yorkshire consists of a day of Tag Rugby with a festival atmosphere and an after-party.
In 2019 TagFest™ Yorkshire attracted 24 teams from across the country and with this year's tournament having a capacity of 40 teams, we expect the event to be even bigger and better!
The tournament will have divisions to accommodate all standards from beginner to elite.
Enjoy a full day of Tag Rugby before retiring to the clubhouse for pizza, drinks and a DJ. BUT, it won't stop there. at 22:30, jump in a cab and take the party to Leeds where you can carry on until the early hours of the morning. All social elements will depend on the Covid-19 situation and will be adapted accordingly at the time.
TagFest™ Yorkshire 2021 will run with three grades and have staggered start times beginning from 10:30am and culminating with the Division 1 final on the main pitch, at approximately 5pm. The winners’ presentations will take place shortly after the final.
All teams will play through the pool stages to determine whether they make it into the Cup, Plate, or Bowl competition for their division. The three divisions will have staggered finish times to allow easy access to the bar for a well earned drink after your final.
- All games will be 7-a-side and will have a guaranteed game time of at least 90 minutes
- Maximum of 12 players per squad, minimum 3 females on the pitch at any one time
- Division 1 will play with Try Tag Rugby’s extended rules (7-a-side still applies). Regular Try Tag Rugby rules apply for all other divisions
- All players must be registered for insurance purposes
- Teams will be seeded based on submitted squads. Squads must be complete by 6th August
- Seeding is done at the discretion of Try Tag Rugby Yorkshire, incomplete squads may result in higher seeding than expected
- Consumption of alcohol is prohibited until the tournament has concluded
PRESENTATION & AFTER PARTY
On completion of the finals, the presentation will take place outside the clubhouse (weather depending) before the after-party kicks-off for all players with a DJ and food options. At 10:30pm we will take taxis into town and continue the party into the night (venue TBC).
We will be back at the home of TagFest™ Yorkshire - Stanningley ARLC, a semi- rural setting with stunning views of the rolling Yorkshire hills and valleys. Just over 15 minutes from Leeds City Centre, the venue is ideally situated between Leeds and Bradford, close to the Leeds Outer Ring Road and five miles from Leeds and Bradford Airport with easy access to the motorway network.
Full male and female changing facilities are available on site (COVID regulations depending) for use before, during and after the tournament - particularly important for getting yourself changed into your after-party outfit once the games are finished.
ON THE DAY
Team organisers will need to arrive for registration no later than 10am with the first games starting at 11am. Play will be completed by 5pm with the after-match social running until the early hours.
PUTTING THE PUDDING INTO YORKSHIRE
Returning to tradition, the Yorkshire Pudding and Spoon Race will be back. Half way through the day, teams will be invited to participate and compete for the coveted title of 'Yorkshire Pudding & Spoon Race Champions' - A very prestigious title... We will of course be getting in the spirit with fancy dress, this year's theme being FOOD & DRINK.
Of course, should you be crowned as the 'Yorkshire Pudding & Spoon Race Champions' and you do so whilst in fancy dress, maybe even dressed as a Yorkshire Pudding - it's fair to say you have kudos and bragging rights for the entire year ahead, you might even be able to demand a few drinks off some other teams in the clubhouse afterwards.
FOOD & DRINK
Stanningley ARLC will have the bar and canteen open for food and drinks throughout the day, there will also be a bar open outside for when the games are finished. After the presentation, the Singing Pineapple pizza truck will be serving pizzas until 9pm.
