Social & Sporty

Established in 1992 in Australia and growing in popularity ever since. Tag Rugby is fast becoming the next big social sport to spread across the UK and Ireland. It’s fast paced and competitive, welcoming everyone with 40 minutes to spare and some energy to burn off!

Taking part in a team sport is a great way for people to keep fit, have fun and make friends, so we believe that Tag Rugby is as much about the social side of belonging to a team as it is about playing. It’s a fun sport that brings people together.

People of all abilities can enjoy the thrill of this minimum-contact sport, which is played seven a-side, making it easy for sports clubs, colleagues or friends to get a team together. We cater for players in search of competition, run corporate days for businesses who want to build team spirit, and host fun days and festivals for those who just love a good kick about with friends. It’s our business to make sure there is a league or event available for anyone who wants to play.

So far, we have established popular Try Tag Rugby leagues across Bristol, Coventry & Warwickshire, London, Manchester, the Thames Valley and Yorkshire, but that’s just the start. We’re now looking for motivated and energetic individuals to join in our success and help us build new Tag Rugby leagues right across the UK with part-time and full-time options available.

If you love your sport, are organised and have a can-do attitude then launching your own Try Tag Rugby franchise could be the perfect business opportunity for you.

The concept is simple

Every player attaches two tags to their shorts with Velcro. Game play is similar to Rugby League and Touch Rugby, but instead of a physical tackle or touch, defending players try and stop their opponents from scoring by pulling a tag from the shorts of the person carrying the ball – known as “tagging”.

It’s this method of play which makes the sport so accessible for men and women of all ages and abilities, giving the option to play men or women only, or in mixed teams. And so, due to the inclusiveness, popularity of this fast-paced and friendly sport continues to grow.

In London, Tag Rugby has been played regularly since 2009. The friendly vibe at the ground and after match social activities, keep players coming back for both the fitness and the fun. Our experience of running successful Tag Rugby leagues and creating a straightforward model for success, means we know what it takes to turn this sociable sport into a profitable business. Whether that be on a full-time or part-time franchisee basis.

In a league of its own…

1. Comprehensive full-time or part-time franchise packages available

2. Simple and profitable business model

3. Bespoke league management software

4. Broad target audience

5. Build multi-level leagues, allowing for greater competition and business growth

6. Extra opportunities – corporate days, social events and one day festivals

7. Fun, flexible and rewarding career

Are you ready to score?

To run a Try Tag Rugby franchise, you need to be energetic, organised, motivated and have a “can do” attitude. You will need to have good local knowledge and be great at establishing new contacts, because you’ll be responsible for finding suitable grounds for play and creating a buzz around this sport in your local area.

It’s quite likely that you’ll already be a fan of Tag Rugby and may have played it before (or are perhaps already involved with a local Rugby Club), but this isn’t a pre-requisite. Just having a keen interest in rugby or other ball sports generally will mean you’ve got the right passion for making this sporty business a success.

You don’t need to have managed a business or a sports league before – we’ll give you all the support you need to get up and running. However, you do need to be committed to putting the time and energy into building a league and getting out there in the local community to encourage participation.

We are looking for people who share our same enthusiasm for sport and who would enjoy creating a vibrant, social and competitive local league.

What they say?

Try Tag Rugby Bristol Franchise co-owner James Hawken said, “We set up a franchise and were really pleased with how quickly we managed to get it off the ground. The guys in head office were so helpful with advice and support.

“The expertise and template of how to make it successful all there already, making initial set up quite straight forward. We were able to draw on 10 years of Tag Rugby experience in London when setting up in our region. We felt there was a strong product and that there would be a good appetite for Tag Rugby in our region and were proved right.

“It’s been hard work with challenges along the way but a massively rewarding experience. So many people have come up to us thanking us for setting up tag in this city, saying it’s one of the best things they’ve done here. We’ve also made some great new friends and contacts along the way.”

Try Tag Rugby Coventry & Warwickshire Franchise co-owner Troy Perkins said, “It’s been brilliant and lots of fun along the way. It’s a great product and Try Tag Rugby have a model that really works.

“The support and help from Try Tag Rugby in getting the franchise up and running, especially at the start has been invaluable. It has allowed us to really hit the ground running and get things off to a successful start.”
