The team at Try Tag Rugby are always on the lookout for more referees across all our regions.
You can start in the social grade and depending on progress potentially work your way up to refereeing Super League and International Tag Rugby!
Refereeing Tag Rugby is a great way to get fit, stay involved and have plenty of fun. We can be flexible around your work or playing commitments. You have the opportunity to referee from as little as one game per week up to seven days per week. If weekday evenings are no good or you just want to referee some additional games then we also need referees for our one-day tournaments. All referees are well trained and well looked after. We understand that high quality referees are a very important part of the Try Tag Rugby experience.
Try Tag Rugby hold regular practical referee workshops and classroom based forums, for referees to ask rule questions, gain knowledge & experience and liaise with other Tag Rugby referees to gain greater consistency across the board. Once you’re a trained Try Tag Rugby referee and you start to referee regularly, you will also have the opportunity to referee Tag Rugby International matches and be eligible for the many rewards we have available for our referees.
Try Tag Rugby are always on the lookout for good quality referees. Whether you are a current Tag Rugby player, Rugby League or Rugby Union referee, Touch Rugby referee, or someone looking for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you! Email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The Referee Incentive Scheme
This scheme is similar to the scheme introduced in 2017 in that it has targets for number of games refereed within a single calendar year. The targets also include attendance at Referee Forums to ensure regular referees are continuing to learn, upskill and maintain consistency across all Try Tag Rugby leagues which is especially important when they are refereeing large numbers of games. The rewards in this scheme are mainly event based or credit on the referees’s TTR personal statement.
|Games refereed (in 2018)||Forums required||Reward|
|75||1||Referee day out (Zorb football or similar activity)|
|100||1||2 x tickets TTR Birthday Boat Party|
|100||1||£25 TTR credit|
|125||1||Invite to Referee curry night|
|150||1||1 x ticket to TTR Xmas party|
|150||2||1 x ticket to Challenge Cup Final|
|200||2||£50 TTR credit|
|250||2||2nd ticket to TTR Xmas party|
|300||3||£75 TTR Credit|
|400||3||£100 TTR credit|
(N.B. TTR credit can only be used for Try Tag Rugby leagues, tournaments or merchandise. There is no cash equivalent. The credit will expire after 12 months and is non-transferable)
Referees who referee at one-day tournaments will have between 3 and 5 games added to their total depending on the length of the tournament.
The Referee Reward Scheme
This scheme is an ongoing scheme and rewards those referees that referee regular games over longer periods as well as those referees that referee a smaller number of games but do so year in year out. No forum attendance is required for the reward scheme and a referee’s total will start from 1st January 2017. This also means that referees who start refereeing mid-year still have attainable targets to aim for.
|Games refereed (since Jan 1st 2017)||Forums required||Reward|
|40||0||ACME Thunderer whistle|
|1250||0||Base layer top|
|1500||0||Base layer leggings|
|1750||0||Nike football boots|
Referees who referee at one-day tournaments will have between 3 and 5 games added to their total depending on the length of the tournament. (N.B. Referees who have received any of these rewards from a previous incentive scheme won’t be given them again as standard unless the item has changed it’s design or branding. Rewards for 150+ games can only be collected at Referee forums or when refereeing one-day tournaments).
Any queries relating to either scheme should be directed to the Referee Operations Manager at email@example.com.
